Us … The Lowcountry Tech Prep Consortium is a cooperative endeavor involving the Technical College of the Lowcountry; Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence; the University of South Carolina-Beaufort; the school districts of Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton (Districts #1 & #2), and Jasper counties; and the entire business and military community in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The Lowcountry Tech Prep Consortium is dedicated to the premise that a four-year degree is not the only pathway to success. The shortage of technically skilled workers in today's work place is increasing at an alarming rate. The Consortium is addressing that critical issue by promoting and facilitating the highest quality technical education to all Lowcountry students. The vision of the Lowcountry Tech Prep Consortium is to be a catalyst for change in education reform. By providing current salary/compensation and labor market projections and by existing as a useful resource for teachers/counselors/administrators the Consortium is helping students and parents make informed career decisions. The purpose and goals of the Lowcountry Tech Prep Consortium, consistent with the recommendations of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Act of 1990 and the South Carolina School-to-Work Transition Act of 1994, are:
